Cologne Cathedral

The Cologne Cathedral (Kรถlner Dom) is Germany's most visited landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Construction began in 1248 but was left unfinished until 1880. With its soaring twin spires reaching 157 meters into the sky, it was briefly the tallest building in the world.
Why It's Free
As a working Catholic church, entry to the main nave and seating areas is entirely free. You are welcome to walk around, admire the breathtaking stained glass windows, and experience the immense scale of the interior without spending a dime.

When to go: Visit early in the morning right when it opens to experience the quiet majesty of the space without the massive tourist crowds.
